TYPES OF ECOMMERCE: SELF HOSTED vs. FULLY HOSTED
All ecommerce types fall into two camps when it comes the hosting and maintenance: Self-hosted and fully hosted solutions.
- Self-hosted solution is when the software is purchased by the marketer and hosted on the marketer's server or at a hosting facility of their choice (this is the case for all Quick Social clients)
- Fully hosted solution (software as a service) is when the software is rented through a monthly/annually subscription fee and runs on the software company’s servers. Generally, there is a fee + a % on sales. This is the case for Shopify, Big commerce, Volusion, etc.
PRICE COMPARISON
Self-hosted Quick Social Ecommerce solution (unlimited users/products) = $5,500 (one-time installation & training + 3 months hosting) – (you own the software) after the onetime payment you pay only the hosting, maintenance, security and technical support. $3000 no software annual/monthly subscription fees, no sales % fees.
In 5 years you pay $20,500.
Fully hosted solutions like Shopify, Big Commerce, etc. Depending on your subscription plan assuming you have unlimited products, users etc. and sales around $2000/month at start with a possible monthly sales increase like 10% per month. After 5 years including subscriptions fees, sales % and maybe some support
In 5 years you pay $147,000.
